Hello, my name is Madia, #90sbaby. If you are reading about me, you are probably here to learn more about me or my work experience in any given industry. We will get to my design experience soon, but first, I want to share a little bit of history about myself.
Through my elementary to high school years, I moved around a lot. I was blessed to spend a lot of time in dance studios, piano lessons, pageants, band, cheerleading, and church, hoping I would flourish in one of these fields. Being brought up in a multicultural home, there were many expectations, and I really did not know what I wanted to do. Thus, I decided to go to college.
Fall 2012, I started some of the best experiences of my life. Besides attending the parties and fun sport events, my graphic design and art courses were a HUGE aspect of forming my creativity and my future. I had a few great professors that taught me a lot about observation, research and resources, and I still use those tactics 'til this day.
Late 2015, my junior year of college, I had the pleasure of interning at a small wholesale furniture store, creating promotional mailers, website assets, and catalog packets for current and potential hotel buyers. By mid-2016, I found another opportunity, designing for the cultural arts department at my college. I collaborated with other graphic designers and completed many different projects including posters, interactive calendars, program brochures, billboard ads, and occasional website design. During this timeframe, I also started freelancing, in my spare time, to get more experience with web design, digital ads, and UX design.
Spring 2017, I graduated with a B.A. in Graphic Design, and I continued to pursue my career at an advertising and media agency. I worked with Design lead and other team members on projects such as branding, marketing campaigns, and website design as well as organize social media calendars for more than 20 clients.
By January 2018, I was introduced to alternative health & the cannabis industry. This opened MANY doors for me as a versatile designer. I started off as the graphic / web designer for a distribution center, working a lot with e-commerce design, product packaging, and re-branding. It became so overwhelming between B2B and B2C operations that I ended up building a whole media team, full of graphic design interns, e-commerce and marketing specialists, social media marketers, influencers, and SEO & website functionality help. All components put together is what helped execute the vision I had for these brands. The brands today have became very successful and have sold to many retailers and consumers around the U.S. nation.
It's now mid-year, 2021, and I am looking for something more. Something new. Something else. My life still continues to grow, and as Billy Eilish would say, "I'm in love with my future, and you don't know her."
